Do you realize that you don’t have to spend a lot on expensive electrical air purifiers when you can purchase a few types of houseplants to clean and filter the air naturally and inexpensively?
Here are two of my favorites for your home:
Aloe Vera Plant
Not only does this plant filter the air of formaldehyde, it is also a great plant to have around for cuts and burns. Just break open the leaves and apply the cool gel to the injury. Great for a nice sunny window.
Peace Lily
Known for removing benzene, a common household chemical and known carcinogen. It’s also said to remove mold spores in the air, making it great for bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms; purifying the air of trichloroethylene, a chemical found in cleaners and solvents; and removing alcohols, acetone, and formaldehyde.
Very easy to care for, it prefers lots of water, less often and bright, indirect light. I have even removed the soil from the plant and placed it in a decorative vase filled with water.
