This front landscape design and installation showcases the type of projects I’m often hired to create. It’s an update on an older home that enhances curb appeal while addressing and repairing problem areas. The ultimate goal is to create a beautiful space that functions well for the homeowners with every design element performing as intended.
Before
The client needed to repair the brick on the lower front of their house, as the original porch interlocking stone was installed too high.
They had many front steps and requested a safer, more accessible entrance to their home. Also on their wish list was a slightly larger sitting area in their front yard and a low-maintenance garden.
The wood used in the original design is commonly seen in mature yards but doesn’t function well as it ages.
After
- The lawn was regraded to allow for easier maintenance.
- The steps were widened to be closer to the house, allowing for better handrail access.
- Techo-Bloc (Rocka) steps and wall stone were used for the steps and on the retaining walls.
- Techo Blu slabs were used on the walkway and upper porch area.
- Lighting conduit was installed behind the wall so lights can be added in the second phase, making the front steps even more accessible.
Here’s a look at the landscape design.
